Opie, or more formally known as the Open Palmtop Integrated Environment, is a complete user environment and suite of applications for portable devices running Linux. Originally, Opie was based on Qtopia 1.4 developed by TrollTech and applications developed for the Qtopia environment are generally compatible with Opie.

What's with that logo?
No, that is not some rejected Pokemon character. His name is Pingizauru and was originally drawn as the logo for the OpenZaurus project. Since OpenZaurus is a Linux distribution for Sharp's Zaurus PDA line, Pingi (as he is commonly known) is a cross between a penguin and a dinosaur. Get it? He was later adopted by the Opie team and has found a new home at this project.
